What makes ALBA Organics unique?
- You will receive local, fresh, organic, and
source-verified produce with an identity.
- You will support small-scale, beginning and organic
farmers, most of whom are immigrants.
- You may request that farmers “custom grow” specific
products or produce varieties to fulfill your culinary
vision.
- We partner with schools and universities to assure that
students can visit the ALBA farms, and meet the people who
grow your food!
- When you choose to buy from ALBA Organics, you
are contributing to small farm success while also supporting
ALBA, the organization that makes it possible.
ALBA Organics also offers marketing education for
farmers on packing and sales for wholesale and retail
distribution, including food safety and quality control.
ALBA Organics staff members are integral to the ALBA Farmer
Education Program and numerous other educational activities with
partners and customers.
About us:
In 2002, ALBA established ALBA Organics as a licensed
produce distributor to support the sales and training needs of
beginning farmers as an essential component to their development
and success as entrepreneurs. ALBA Organics provides
farmer-vendors with vital technical assistance on crop planning,
field production, post-harvest handling/packing, as well as the
marketing for distribution to a variety of customers.
The on-farm cooler, warehouse, and delivery infrastructure of
ALBA Organics situated at the ALBA Rural Development
Center near Salinas are major assets for both the farmers and
the organization. ALBA Organics connects its customers
with the highest-quality organic product available in season,
and offers customers the opportunity to support small-scale,
limited-resource and beginning farmers, many of whom are former
farm workers, working to achieve economic success and
sustainable livelihoods.
